Doc: Doc's meeting with Minx didn't turn out as well as he had hoped, so he had to retreat in order not to ******* kill her again. He had updated Zodiac on the situation, and Zodiac had an excellent plan of attack. So he decided it would be best to let Zodiac take the lead in this particular endeavor. However, that made him remember Carmen. Carmen whom he had not heard from in a couple of weeks. Time to touch base, see how she was doing, and hoping that Minx had not dragged her into the world of the paladins. He liked Carmen, he would really hate to kill her. *text* Hi. Long time no hear.. you still around?
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie had been all too busy with schoolwork and preparing for the season. Fundraising was going halfway decent, and practices without Verne about were a bit... all over the place. But they managed. She had just stepped out of the showers and pulled on her bra and sweats when she saw her phone light blinking at the back of her locker. Smiling when she saw who it was, she slid the phone open and sent a text back. [Text] I'm here! Just been super busy with practices between classes and work. Sorry. How are you?
Doc: Doc read the text and smirked, and texted back *Text* So you're working now too? You have baseball practice.. Bible classes.. University classes.. and now you're working too? Is this you telling me to go away?
Kenlie Santos: [Text] No! I'm just a really busy chick. If you don't believe me just check out Catalina's on the weekends.
Doc: *text* I was supposed to check you out at baseball.. but someone never told me when.. or where...
Kenlie Santos: She bit her lip at that. Oops. [Text] We have a game tomorrow... I'm starting pitcher.
Doc: *text* Home game?
Kenlie Santos: [Text] Yep. Admission Is only a few bucks but a little goes a long way, so.
Doc: *text* A little goes a long way.. for?
Kenlie Santos: [Text] A lot of it goes to upkeep of the stadium, but some of it will go to new uniforms... which we're in dire need of.
Doc: *text* So you've been fundraising too? I can donate to the cause..
Kenlie Santos: [Text] Yeah, we've had a few indoor "cookouts" for it but not many people showed... Really?
Doc: *text* Sure.. I can write it off as a corporate donation. No problem.
Kenlie Santos: [Text] Thank you!!!!! You wanna come watch tomorrow then?
Doc: Doc smirked. He knew she had totally forgotten about him, until he mentioned money.. then she's bending over backwards. But it was for a good cause. It would make Carmen see him in a positive light.. and if he played his cards right, it would ultimately get Minx in a more sociable mood around him. *text* Absolutely
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie didn't really see why Dom didn't want her talking to the guy. Charles was a nice man -- a doctor, too. And now he was giving the Saints money for their uniforms. Maybe she just didn't like Kenlie around older men. She did know about Hans, after all. [Text] Sweet. It starts at about 7. Parking may be a little tight so aim for earlier.
Doc: *Text* I'll drive the Mustang.. so be on the look out for it. Who do I make the check out to? I will bring it with me.
Kenlie Santos: [Text] Uh... That'd be a question to ask coach. I'll see when he's around.
Doc: *text* Alright.. I can fill it in, when I get there. It needs to be a corporate check in order for me to get the write off. I want it correct.
Kenlie Santos: [Text] It will be. :] Give me a few minutes to get outta here. Practice just ended and I'm starving.
Doc: *text* Take your time..
Kenlie Santos: The girl paused what she was doing to lean up against the lockers for a minute, tossing her phone up into the open one. She felt light-headed and was seeing spots, but she passed it off as hunger. Passing lunch to fit in some batting cage time could do that. Exhaling slowly, she forced herself to stand straight and tugged her regular shirt back over her head, and then sat down to pull on and tie her shoes. Once that was done and her hair was brushed, she grabbed her phone, pulled on her denim jacket and strapped her backpack over one shoulder, ready to head out. [Text] Thinking about grabbing a burger - wanna come?

Doc: *text* I just ate, but I can keep you company..if you want
Kenlie Santos: [Text] yes! I got all my classwork for the week done ahead of time for tomorrow, so I'm free. I can grab it and go to you. Where?
Doc: *text* Do you know where the Lounge is?
Kenlie Santos: [Text] south of the river right?
Doc: *text* wait maybe not the right spot for a religious girl.. You pick.. I can move..
Doc: *text* Now how does a god fearing girl know that..? Yes south of the river..
Kenlie Santos: [Text] Because I'm a sinner just like everyone else?
Doc: *text* Fine .. I will meet you there..
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie pulled into the lot and stepped out of her car, making sure the windows were rolled up and the doors were locked. She knew how handsy people were about pretty cars around here. Once she was inside, she pulled out her phone and sent the man a text. "I'm here. I'll be at the bar." She found an area with a few empty stools and slid onto one closest to the wall, ordering herself a Vanilla Coke while she waited.
Doc: Doc arrived a few minutes after his phone received the text. He was not adept at texting and driving at the same time, so he didn’t even bother to read it until he parked. After he parked he read it and texted back. *text* Just arrived. One minute.
He hit send and then headed inside. Even in the dim light he had no trouble spotting her. He approved of the location she chose. He crossed over the breadth of the room and a seat beside. “Hello Carmen. You are looking well this evening.”
Kenlie Santos: She'd only worn a long, sleeveless black tunic that barely hid the sports bra underneath, with a pair of dark jeans and her sneakers. She didn't think she looked special. Hell, she hadn't even bothered to put on makeup after practice. Running a few fingers through her hair, she looked up when she heard his voice and offered a smile. "I just got done with practice. You don't need to lie." She laughed, then leaned forward so that her elbows rested on the bar. "Want a drink?"
Doc: Doc smirked and said dryly, “You are well toned young lady exuding health and vibrancy, who willing to spend her evening with me, I call it as I see it. And yes a drink, but this is on me.” He nodded to the bartender, “My usual.. and what ever the young lady would like.” He turned his attention back to Carmen. “What would you like?” He clasped his hands loosely together and rested them on the bar top as he looked at expectantly.
Kenlie Santos: The girl gave a small, but playful roll of her eyes before she looked back up to the bartender. "Do you serve burgers and fries here? If so, I'll have that. With cheese, lots of pickles, and ranch on the side. Please."
Doc: Doc’s smirk turned into a closed mouth smile. “A woman with a health appetite, I have not witnessed that in some time. Usually I am surrounded with females that pick at their meals as though the mere touch will cause them to gain weight.”
Kenlie Santos: As the bartender moved away to fix up her order, she slid Doc a look and grinned. "I play sports. Means I have to maintain my weight. Plus.." She brought her straw to her lips and took a long gulp before continuing. "I really don't care what people think of my eating habits. I guess I'm just not like most girls?"
Doc: “You misunderstand, I appreciate a healthy appetite. It shows you are not afraid to life to the fullest. It is enjoyable to see young person who is not afraid to grab life with both hands.” He canted his head slightly toward her, “Just remember things should be done in moderation.”
Kenlie Santos: She tilted her head a bit, then managed a smaller smile, no less genuine. "I get it," she murmured, tucking a hair behind her ear. "We're all living on borrowed time, so I try to make the most of it. But I don't think that philosophy has much to do with what I eat."
Doc: He nodded and decided to change the subject. “So how did it go with telling your sister, she was ..in fact your sister? Or have you not done it yet? I am curious to know how she reacted.” His tone was conversational and genuine. “To imagine you meet someone in a city not your own, or their own, and yet you are bound by a genetic link. the odds of such a thing must be astronomical.”

Re: L’amour est enfant de Bohême (Kenlie)
"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"
Kenlie Santos: She glanced to the bartender and the drink he held as it was delivered to Doc, then returned her gaze to the man's face. "She was happy. Proud. It wasn't... awkward, like you'd expect it to be. Our relationship is close, like we've known each other for years..."
Doc: Doc had to be careful, he didn’t want Carmen to know he knew more than she thought he knew. So he chose to stay to the typical questions one might ask when faced with this type of situation. “Do you share the tastes in things such as music? Have you discovered if you wanted to do the same things as a child?”
Kenlie Santos: Her 'brows creased in thought as she swirled the ice around her glass with her straw. "A little, yeah. We both were..." She paused, eyeing him for a moment. She hadn't told him much about her past, and she wasn't at all sure how he would take it. After taking a breath, she let it out in a slow sigh and continued. "We were both delinquents, in our own ways."
Doc: “Carmen.. every child has discipline problems. Those that say they did not, are lying. I am more interested in, did you both excel in Math..or language? Did you both lean toward certain hobbies; do you dress the same.. even though you did not know each other? That sort of thing.” His lips quirked a bit, “I too was considered a delinquent..” He just never got caught.
Kenlie Santos: She twisted her mouth in thought. "I've never talked to her about that sort of thing... I just know that, while she was stealing cars, I was dealing drugs for my gang." She frowned a little, then turned as her food was delivered on a warm plate. Smiling, she went to dig out her wallet.
Doc:
He furrowed his brow, “You meet a sister you have never known, and you have not even discussed such?” He noted her going for the wallet, “I told you, this is on me.. you are a student, allow me, it is a small thing.” He nodded to the bartender as if to silently say he had the bill. He took swallow of his drink, before looking back at her “IF you did not speak of your childhoods, how did you even think to see if you were related?”
Kenlie Santos: She paused and shoved her wallet back into her pocket. "I get the tip," she told him, before twisting back around to face her food. Picking a fry between her fingers, she dipped it into the cup of ranch and then popped it in her mouth, chewing before she spoke. "We talked about our childhood, just not about school. Found out that our dad was a lowlife prick. The timelines were right. And the fact that we're both from different places in New York?"
Doc: “New York is a large city. And there are plenty of low life pricks.” He smirked, “I have a daughter that considers me such..” Ah the irony. “And in her eyes, she is probably correct. However, as we age, we see beyond the immediate future. We see the long range view that our children do not. One day I hope she will see what I saw.. when I made the decision I did.”
Kenlie Santos: "Not the city. Just the state." She lifted her burger with both hands and took a bite, looking down as she chewed and listened thoughtfully. "Our dad abandoned me and my mom as soon as he found out I was sick."
Doc: "Sick.. ?" His interest perked up considerably "Cancer?"
Kenlie Santos: "No. Heart defect."
Doc: The interest was genuine, but subdued. "Has it been corrected?"
Kenlie Santos: "Mhm. When I was a baby. There was a hole in one of the chambers so blood wasn't really getting... much oxygen, I guess. They patched it, though"
Doc: Nodding, he didn't push the issue. Her answer was short and to the point, as though she didn't wish to talk about it. He wanted to ask if she had been given the green light for strenuous exercise, but again, he was treading a tightrope, he didn't want to alienate her. He drank some more, "So after dinner.. what are you plans?"
Kenlie Santos: She looked over at him, and she swore she could sense his curiosity. A small smile pulled at her mouth as she chewed another bite of her burger. "I didn't have anything in mind. Do you?"
Doc: "Well actually I could use some advice... from a female perspective. However, I prefer not to talk about it here.. " He glanced around, "If you wouldn't mind..."
Kenlie Santos: She glanced to the bartender and the drink he held as it was delivered to Doc, then returned her gaze to the man's face. "She was happy. Proud. It wasn't... awkward, like you'd expect it to be. Our relationship is close, like we've known each other for years..."

Re: L’amour est enfant de Bohême (Kenlie)
"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"
Kenlie Santos: She took the last bite of her burger--or at least the last she was going to have, since she'd eaten about three-fourths of it--and then sipped some more of her soda. She popped a few more fries into her mouth, then swallowed. "Wherever you wanna go."
Doc: "No rush.. finish eating.." He drank some more of his drink. "I figured we could walk and talk..?"
Kenlie Santos: "Of course. That's fine with me." She smiled at him, then set to picking at a few more of her fries.
Doc: "I'm **** with understanding women." It was the truth. He never understood them. When he thought he had them figured out, they went and did something completely unexpected. He drank the last of his drink. "Complete ****."
Kenlie Santos: She gave a soft laugh before finishing what was left of her soda. "I don't know if I'll be much better, but I'll try." She slid down from her stool and tugged her jacket back on over her arms, before digging out a five dollar bill.
Doc: Doc pulled out his wallet and laid a twenty on the bar top. He headed toward to the exit and held the door open for Carmen. "Your opinion.. is better than mine any day.."
Kenlie Santos: She laid the five down on top of that, then followed close by so she could slip through the door. "Depends on the girl," she told him, spinning around to face him as she walked backwards. "Is it your daughter?"
Doc: "No.. But that is a good suggestion.. You would probably have some excellent insights into that. She is a few years older than you." He shoved his hands in his pockets as he set a slow pace. "This is work colleague. Now I will be honest I have hit on her .. and she ignores me. But now all of a sudden..she has changed. She's different. Before she would just ******* sh..slap me if I said something off color to her.. Now.. she looks like she wants to ******* cry all the time..what the **** causes that?"
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie raised both 'brows in curiosity. "Do you do or say anything in particular that causes her to look that way? Or did you just... stop treating her normally?"
Doc: He tried to give her the details he had without breaking the masquerade, so certain aspects had to be tweaked in order to make it fit. "She was this balls to wall hospital administrator.. that would castrate you as soon as look at you. I am my usual obnoxious self, and next then I know, shes telling me she will quit if thats what I want... I didn't do anything different.. "
Kenlie Santos: Given she didn't know all of the details about it, she could only make an assumption based on the facts she was given. Biting her lip, she spun back around and shoved her hands into her pockets. "Sounds like she's either on her rag, or... You know."
Doc: "I thought about that.. but I can tell, it's not that. She's usually meaner..not puddling like a 12 year girl who got grounded from her school dance.."
Kenlie Santos: "She feels shunned for some reason. Put off."
Doc: "Shunned?" He made a face. He started to say something, then stopped. "You mean Jealous?"
Kenlie Santos: She shrugged a shoulder as she looked up at him. "Not necessarily, but possibly. Maybe she took something you said or did as hurtful. A jab. Or... yeah, jealous of something, I guess."
Doc: "If anything.. I stopped picking on her.. " He sighed, "I don't need the hospital administrator puddling and then the higher ups getting involved."
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie paused. "She might have taken that the wrong way. Maybe she's so used to the way you two used to be, that you not acting a certain way is hurtful. Talk to her."
Doc: He made a face.. "Talk? about what? Feelings..and that ****.. that is not going to happen.."
Kenlie Santos: "At least mention that you've noticed the change in her behavior and ask if something's wrong."
Doc: He nodded. "Alright.. then what? I open that door.. I better have a damn good line"
Kenlie Santos: "Depends on her reaction. If it's you, you apologize."
Doc: "My fault.. Yes I am used to doing that one.." He sighed, "And if its not me?"
Kenlie Santos: "Then you listen to her."

Doc: He muttered something unintelligible. "Alright.. I will try it. I may be calling you.."
Kenlie Santos: She grinned lightly. "Works for me. Do I get paid for this session, too?" she teased.
Doc: Despite himself, he smirked. He reached into a pocket and pulled out a check. "Just need to know who to address it too."
Kenlie Santos: "I was joking, you ***." She bumped her shoulder into his side.
Doc: "This is for your team.. dumbass.."
Kenlie Santos: "Oh..." She smiled sheepishly, then took a breath. "I'm not sure if you make it out to our team or the coach? We're the Harper Rock West University Saints Baseball team... coach is Verne Krouse."
Kenlie Santos: "I'd say coach, because he can always just put it into the team's account?"
Doc: Doc pulled his pen and looked at her. "Business wise, I think I need to address it to the team.. not the coach. I don't want it to be misconstrued as a bribe."
Kenlie Santos: "Got it. Write that down, then."
Kenlie Santos: "But just put H-R-W-U."
Doc: "Turn around.. I need a desk.. " He was going to use her back. "So.. H.T.W.U. "
Kenlie Santos: She did as he asked, bending over slightly so he has a flatter surface. "H.R.W.U. Baseball Team."
Doc: He scribbled 'Baseball Team' on it as well. The in the misc. he tagged it 'uniforms'. "Alright.. here you go Carmen.. that should earn you a kudos from your coach.."
Kenlie Santos: She turned back around, took the check and carefully put it in her wallet for safe-keeping. "Thanks, Charles... I owe you, huge."
Doc: "You only owe me.. if your advice is crap." He smirked.
Kenlie Santos: "And what exactly would I owe, then?"
Doc: "Dinner.."
Kenlie Santos: She perked a 'brow and tilted her head at him. "A casual dinner like tonight, or a dinner date?"
Kenlie Santos: "... Or do I have to cook?"
Doc: "You're younger than my daughter.. I have a hard enough time getting her to be civil with me... if I were to date someone younger than her.. can you even contemplate the nuclear reaction that would involved.. when she got a look at you.. " He almost grinned wildly, but quickly covered his mouth, and rubbed his jaw with his hand. Minx would be livid for sure. "Just a casual dinner" The amusement in his voice was clear. She might get the impression he like pissing her off.
Kenlie Santos: She laughed, tipping her head down and flipping some hair from her face before shaking her head. "A dinner date doesn't necessarily mean much, you know." She rolled her shoulders and peered back up at him. "Alright. I'll buy you dinner if my advice fucks you up. And... I sincerely apologize in advance."
Doc: "Well hopefully I will not be held liable if she quits, if the advice sucks.." He pondered slightly, "on the other hand.. your advice might be so good.. I might get laid.."
Kenlie Santos: She held a hand up as if to stop him. "Yeah, yeah... Don't need to tell me the details, either!"
Kenlie Santos: Her phone went off, then. Digging it out of her pocket, she opened it and then stared at the screen for a few seconds before covering her eyes.
Doc: Doc grinned lopsidedly, and went silent as her phone rang.
Kenlie Santos: She turned her phone around to show him.

Kenlie Santos: "My sister."
Doc: "She has a point.."
Kenlie Santos: "She's just trying to ruin my childhood."
Doc: "How old is your sister?" Devilment clearly in his eyes.
Kenlie Santos: "Twenty-two. So technically, it's also her childhood. She just takes pleasure in tormenting me with it."
Doc: "Same age as my daughter... "
Kenlie Santos: "She in school?"
Doc: "No.. she's 'doing her own thing' rebelling .. doing the opposite of what I would like her to do... "
Kenlie Santos: "Oh... Ouch."
Doc: "Kids like to rebel.. they think they know it all"
Doc: "And...thats it? Just listen?"
Kenlie Santos: "Listen, say you understand even if you don't, and make her feel like she's not crazy."

"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"
Kenlie Santos: "Do we?"
Kenlie Santos: "I think I still have a lot of learning to do.. through experience."
Doc: "See.. that is what they all want to do.. 'experience it myself'."He snorted, "Sometimes parents are just trying to save the little shitheads some grief."
Kenlie Santos: "So you didn't do the same thing?" she asked him, smirking.
Doc: "Yes I did. Probably worse than she could ever envision..."
Kenlie Santos: "Karma."
Doc: He gives her an exasperated look.
Kenlie Santos: She merely grinned at him, cheekily.
Doc: "You are so much like..." he paused, "my daughter.."
Kenlie Santos: "I might be rebellious, yeah... Just a little."
Doc: "But at least you talk to me.. she tries to stab me.."
Kenlie Santos: She paused and eyed him.
Kenlie Santos: "Well, that's a little harsh."
Doc: "We have a volatile relationship.. I don't hold it against her. She's just trying to find her way.."
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie nodded a little, pulling out a strip of gum and unwrapping it to slip it into her mouth. "You were joking about the stabs, though. Right."
Doc: He gave her a look, "No.." he smirked, "Like I said.. I don't hold it against her.."
Kenlie Santos: She stared for a moment, frowning. "If she's trying to cause you physical pain... she needs help."
Doc: "Yes.. well first I have to get her to talk to me.. then I'll will get her help..."
Kenlie Santos: "I could help, you know..."
Doc: He looks at her "Let me see how this would go. "Sweetheart.. I know you hate me.. and you want to cut me into little pieces, but this girl here... Carmen.. who is younger than you,... and used to sell drugs.. can help you." " He shook his head.
Kenlie Santos: She rolled her eyes. "'But Carmen here, who is your age, knows what you're going through.'"
Kenlie Santos: "Jeez, you do suck at talking to girls." She grinned.
Doc: Doc grinned a close mouth grin, "Yes.. I do. However, I am not putting you in that situation.. besides you have a heart condition.. " he finished triumphantly.
Kenlie Santos: Her lips parted to expel an exasperated huff, arms fanning out to her sides. "A heart condition that's practically dormant! Besides, you're..."
Kenlie Santos: "... Let's just say I can run faster than you if I have to."
Doc: "I may be old darlin.. but I am in shape..You may get me at the start.. but I have endurance..."
Kenlie Santos: Kenlie laughed, loudly and joyously. She was amused. "You think I don't have stamina?"
Doc: "Maybe.. but you're underestimating me"
Kenlie Santos: "Maybe..." She crossed her arms a bit. "Run with me tomorrow."
Doc: "I have a later surgery tomorrow.. I won't be done until.. 730.. that work for you?"
Kenlie Santos: "Perfect. I like to run when it's cooler."
Doc: "Game on.."
Kenlie Santos: "Wait..." She blinked. "Tomorrow's our game. So the day after."
Doc: "Oh.. right. What time does the game start?
Kenlie Santos: "Seven thirty..." She laughed.
Doc: "Perfect timing.. I will be there.. " He smirked. "Now I have kept you from your social life long enough.. Thank you for the company.."
Kenlie Santos: She grinned, fishing out her keys from her pocket as she shrugged. "Not much of a social life, really... Just a pretty girl waiting for me in bed." She cleared her throat some, then began to back up towards the 'Cuda. "See you tomorrow?"
Doc: "I will definitely see you tomorrow? Have a good evening Carmen.."
Kenlie Santos: "You, too!" She turned around and jogged back to her car and got in. When she pulled out, she went slow long enough to get out of the parking lot. Then, as she pulled onto the main street, she floored it a bit, speeding down the road.
Kenlie Santos: "Do we?"
