Nana did not own the copyrights to this and other potent and relevant phrases of wisdom, but she was the first source Zodiac had heard them from, so she tended to attribute them to her.
When the rush of business, clients, deals, trades, services rendered, stocking and re-stocking, custom orders and whatever passed for a social life for the mystic on top of caring for her gardens and her pets would give her a moment, she meditated. Sometimes in the bathtub, but usually it happened in her private garden. She would sit lotus style within her pentacle and try to empty her mind of the bulk of negativity that found its way in daily. In a job such as hers it could not be helped. Counseling others exposed her to the things weighing others down so besides her own thoughts she required a purging of the stuff given to her daily as well. The silence of her garden was the perfect place to unwind and simply be. Broken by the sound of a small fountain that fed her small koi pond or her animals moving about in the foliage, it was perfect background noise. Natural and tranquil.
As the mystic let herself be empty, a curious feeling of lightness came over her. She felt clearer, more focused than normal. Almost care free. It was not an unusual state to be in, but it was one the girl normally found hard to achieve as a rule. Slowly her eyes opened as she breathed (no longer a condition of existence, of course, but the very action was part of how she was taught so she did it) and noticed something odd.
She had a perfect view over her flower boxes to the door, which was odd because when she was seated within the pentacle, her view was obscured by the same boxes in question. She blinked several times and looked around and found other things had shifted a bit from her normal perspectives.
"What the..."
She looked down and found she hovering at least a foot from the floor itself. Zodiac landed in a heap as the shock broke her concentration. At once, she was up on her feet and glaring about. Someone had played a very elaborate trick on her and she was not amused. She looked about for wires and found nothing, then went to check her security system.
No one had entered and all was working as it should.
Besides, if someone playing invisible had moved her, she would have felt the grip of hands on her. She felt nothing but a curious sense of being lighter than normal. Had some telepath simply picked her up and moved her about? No, if anyone had managed that much, she would have heard rumors of it. She finally calmed down and took a seat again and considered it. Once again she took her pose and let her mind drift.
Eventually, the feeling returned. Calmly she opened her eyes and found herself again hovering over the floor. She began to laugh. Her Nana's grimores had claimed levitation was indeed possible but she had never expected it to simply manifest itself like this.
Maintaining her calm, she began to experiment. Soon she was drifting about her garden, much to the concern of Ginny, her cat, who followed along behind her meowing her confusions. Silent laughter graced her private place as she found her center again in a most unique manner.
