Jess could have suspected, but she didn't know for certain. Stories of how quickly vampires healed had made her curious to whether they could have tattoos or not, and after Interview with the Vampire...well, to say the least, she was extremely curious about it. But the woman didn't answer the question that she would have asked, had they been speaking candidly.

"Ink isn't right for everyone," the blonde said, smoothing her jacket. "My brother thinks I'm crazy for getting so much of it."

As if self-conscious about it, having revealed it to the enemy of the very enchantment written into her flesh, Jess lifted her hand to the back of her neck. It would look to anyone else as if she were just scratching an itch, but her palm covered the whole of the marking. It was as if she refretted revealing it to the relatively kind woman standing beside her.

And she was fairly nice. Jess would have liked her, if it weren't for the fact that she wanted to run in the opposite direction to avoid her throat being ripped out. She was still worried it might happen.

Then, she asked about the meanings. For a moment, the blonde looked like a deer caught in the headlights of a speeding car on a forest highway, eyes wide and muscles locked. She forced herself to relax, before she turned to face the woman.

"Okay. By now, you know I know what you are," she said, finally being brazen. "You're not going to kill me are you? I only did it for me and my brother. He doesn't even know about this place's vampires. He's in New Orleans."

Watching the way the woman moved and how her hand went to her markings, Keara had to wonder why she was so open with them. If she herself wore markings that betrayed who or what she was, she certainly wouldn't go showing them if she could help it. Then the female came right out with it and pretty much accused Keara of being a vampire. A part of her considered trying to plunge a dagger through the girl’s heart but then she began to speak of her reasons and this intrigued Keara. Deanna was likely right; this one wasn't affiliated with the ones in the sewers. If she were, she'd likely have drawn a weapon to either attack first, or at the very least defend herself. Even as she was considering how to react, she couldn't help but wonder how the female had recognised her for what she was. Was it the way she spoke? Her aura? She didn't know what the answer was but it was perhaps something worth asking if the conversation went much further.

"Accuse people of such things you should not. Especially when area so public is. Never know you do who listening is. Even when appears there does no-one around to be, possible it is for someone your words to overhear." Keara looked about them, scanning the area as much with her hearing as with her eyes. "While entertain the notion of vampirism as anything but folly I will not, say I shall that no intention have I for you to harm."

Keara didn't like lying directly, in fact she rarely did it these days but then she was reluctant to speak of such things out in the open for all and sundry to hear. She didn't so much mind the topic of conversation in one way, as she knew that as a paladin the female had to have a certain amount of knowledge of the supernatural and likely of her kind, but still, speaking to someone with a heartbeat about her true nature didn't sit well with her.
