Chapter Sidestory: Two Masters (Live Chat Event)

Post by Mooncalf »

What?
This sidestory will be a live chat roleplay event at 3 given locations, at 3 different times. The story of the event is a secret right now, but it will have a direct influence on the outcome of the chapter. All you need to do is have a character turn up in the live chat room of the given location on one of the dates and wait to see what happens.

All roleplay in this live chat event will be descriptive. There might be some IC confrontation, but all events and battles will be decided using the official in-game dice roller. The stories will be guided (lightly GMed) by Keara, and can end in a number of different ways, depending on the actions of the group or the individuals.

When?
1) Tuesday, Oct the 29th, 9pm GMT [3pm CST, 4pm EST, 10am NZDT 30th Oct]* Complete
2) Friday, Nov the 1st, 8am GMT [2am CST, 3am EST, 9pm NZDT]*
3) Sunday, Nov the 3rd, 11pm, GMT [5pm CST, 6pm EST, Noon NZDT 4th Nov]*

You can have a character attend one or more of these nights.

Where?
Event 1: Necropolis Club
Event 2: Rock Bay Docks
Event 3: Beta Towers F14

Rewards?
There will be a standard 1000 EXP reward for each participating character (per event) present at the start of the night (up to 30 minutes late is okay), as long as they stick around for at least an hour.

There is also the chance to win an ultra rare item which will be very useful in future.

Rules
* 1 character per person (per night).
* If you're more than 30 minutes late, you can't join in. Sorry.
* All battles will be decided using the dice roller, rolled by the GM.
* Many other actions, such as chasing down an NPC or hiding something from one of the other characters in the story, will be decided using the dice roller, rolled by the GM.
* OOC disputes are to be settled by the GM.
* If your character comes to a disagreement with another character, and this ends in a roleplay fight, the loser (decided by the dice roller) will have to roleplay being defeated and being left behind (or slipping away). They will be unable to rejoin the chat or talk IC for the remainder of the night thereafter.
* The story is very malleable. Use your imagination as you might in a tabletop game, and you might be able to take the story in unexpected directions. There are no outcomes set in stone for the story, but the final decisions are made by the GM.
* If the event goes on too long, the GM is free to end the story in any way she deems appropriate. Most likely, however, nobody would "win", and the chapter slider would stay the same.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them in roleplay planning.

*Note: Times converted using The World Clock. Times may not be entirely accurate! Please use the timestamp posted in the reply below to work out the difference between your timezone and GMT. All events will run on the GMT times specified above. ~ Natasha

It has been brought to my attention that the CST time may be wrong...meaning that all the adjusted times may be off by an hour. *Blames the World Clock as it lied to me* So...The current chapters first chat event will be taking place in around 1hr 20 mins.

Check back here before joining the event later for additional information/rules for the evening.

ETA: This post was made at 7.41pm GMT. That should help you all work out the time difference for where you live.

Additional rules/information for the chat sessions.
  • As far as these events go, the DMs word is law. This means that there is no arguing with the DM. If you have any issues, please approach them after the game when they have the time to address any concerns you have.
  • The DM reserves the right to refuse entry to the event, to any player, for any reason.
  • No-one should attack anyone on the grid while they are involved in the chat event. Consider whichever area we are in to be a neutral zone. If people wish to continue the RP over into the grid after the event has finished, they should allow for all players to disperse first.
  • Only those directly involved in the rp can be in the chat session and anyone coming in late will be kicked out. Logs will be posted the following day for anyone that wishes to read them.
  • The deadline for entering the event is 30 minutes after the start time.
  • You may use coloured text in the chat session but I'm going to ask that no-one use purple, that way you'll have no excuse for missing any important plot points/commands.
  • There should be no OOC chatter in the main area. The only exception being the official commands listed below. If you need to ask the DM something please do it via PM. All roll instructions will be done via PM, so as not to break the IC narrative more than is absolutely necessary.
  • Time will be called on the session after 4 hours regardless of whether or not a player determined outcome has been reached.
  • It may be an idea for all players to keep the RP Dice Roller open in a different tab/window to spead things up.
  • I've listed a few commands below that I will be using.

    Commands
    • Anything followed by )) will be OOC and likely denotes that an action is required.
    • DICE)) - This means that the player initiating an action needs to roll the dice for the outcome. ALL roleplay should STOP at this point. Roleplay can be resumed after the outcome of the roll has been posted by the player. [Players are allowed to request a dice roll themselves using this command].
      • After the DICE)) command has been given, I will specify what roll needs to be made, stating opponent, difficulty etc.
      • The player who initiated the action will then need to roll the dice and post the outcome (Followed by )) ).
      • Roleplay can then continue.
      • I will verify the response at this point but will not be posting anything to that affect. I will only be commenting OOC at this point if something has been done wrong.
    • TIME OUT)) - All roleplay must stop. Roleplay can only commence again when TIME IN)) has been poasted. I am hoping not to have to use this very often but just in case its good command to have known. I will definitely be pausing the event every 45-60 minutes for 5 minutes so that people have a short rest bite to do whatever they need to do; grab a coffee, go to the toilet, etc. [Only the GM can give this command].
    • TIME IN)) - Roleplay may resume. [Only the GM can give this command].

Thanks to all those that took part in last nights chat event!
You can find an edited transcript of events here. (All ooc comments have been removed).
For those of you wishing to take part in the next chat event, please be prepared to spend up to as long as 4 hours in the chat. You may of course exit the chat at any point before this time but we do need a handful of dedicated players to see the game through to the biter end. ;)

For those that are not familiar with the tabletop RP events these chat sessions are base on here are a few things you may need to know before you enter:
  • You are expected to work together as a group! At least as far as each scene is concerned. This means if changing location, the whole group must decide to go in the same direction and stay together while travelling from A to B. I cannot possibly follow each player on their own individual journey round the city.
  • Even if you are working as a team it doesn't mean that you the player cannot withhold information, steal stuff for yourself, do your own thing within the confines of the scene.
  • The choice to work together to accomplish the goal or turn on one another to take the "prize" is up to you the players.
  • The DM does NOT control who does what. You decide what you do and the dice dictate if you succeed. There is NO arguing with the results.
As DM I go into the game with a vague plot for you to follow. What the players do can/will alter what I have planned. What happens to the items I introduce into the game is up to the players, keep them, destroy them, give them away, it's up to you. (Unless otherwise stated all items are RP only. Your reward for entering the event is clearly stated in the first post of this thread).

There were several possibilities as to how last night's chat event could have finished. Ultimately the end was decided by the actions of those involved who decided not to share all the information with one another, played nice and waited for the opportunity to take what they wanted, etc. and as such, it ended with a PVP situation.

I'm looking forward to the next event and hope to see some of you there.

PLot wise: If anyone wants to be at the next chat event with the purpose of finding out what the "meeting" is about, go talk to Alexandrea and figure out an IC reason for being there. Everyone else will likely just be at the location for other reasons and will need to find a way to join in with those that are there for a reason.

There were several possibilities as to how this latest chat event could have gone, as there were with the last. Ultimately the end was decided by the actions of those involved who decided to focus on each other instead of banding together against the NPCs. I'm not going to complain though as the action was a lot of fun to watch as it unfolded.

I'm looking forward to the next event and hope to see some of you there. (Hopefully the group won't increase in size again or I'll be totally lost, hahaha).

Plot wise: If anyone wants to be at the next chat event with the purpose of finding out what the "Green Team" are all about, go talk to Robert Pratt and figure out an IC reason for being there. Everyone else will likely just be at the location for other reasons and will need to find a way to join in with those that are there for a reason.

Okay guys the last chat event happens tonight. (it's now around 1.30pm GMT, and the live session starts at 11pm GMT, so it starts in around 9 hours 30 minutes).

The rules have been updated to reflect issues we have been having in the past few events, so please make sure to know what the rules of the event are before entering.

To reach the location chat for tonight's event, you will need to go to Beta Towers F14, use the 'Navigation' drop-down menu to go to 'chats'. Then from the OOC chat area, click on 'Location Roleplay'. Please do not waste you time setting up your character's entrances, the scene starts from the moment the DM makes the first post which will set the scene for all those in attendance.

I'm a little worried we'll have more players tonight than I can handle, as such, if we have more than 10 players in attendance, I will be asking all those that have attended a previous chat event to bow out and give someone else a chance to take part in the chapter.

Robert's player is STILL willing to get the word out about tonight's event IC. To have a legit IC reason to be there (no you don't need one and can just happen to be in the area) contact Robert Pratt either via PM, YiM (drew_roberts69) or through the current RP in Streets.

Thanks to all those that took part in yesterday's chat event!

Once again the group surprised me with their actions and managed to make a scene that should have lasted no longer than an hour, turn into a 3 hour marathon of failing schemes and sneaky power usage, lol. I love how unpredictable these games have been.

I'd like to thank all those that made the effort to come along, as without you guys these events couldn't run. Thanks for keeping me on my toes. ;)
