She moved out of the way before I was even anywhere close to her.
Something was off about this woman, something I wasn't too sure about myself.
With my failure, I would have to change my tactics and approach.
She would be on guard now, which means a second attack would be ineffective.
So, I stand there and think of what to say and what to do.
I'm not sure how many minutes go by as the silence resounds in the room between us.
Why isn't she doing something?
Attacking me back? Running for her life? Calling for help, even?
That's when I logically remind myself that it's because she wasn't quite right.

I switch things up and go for playing the victim in this scenario.
"Opportunity to escape." I say as I toss the cue stick to the pool table and let my eyes look around.
"There isn't anyone here lady. You're going on like a mad woman and I'm not sticking around for the midnight passing of the pills."
I hope I sounded believable. I wasn't ever in this position before.
"I'm going to go. Don't get in my way." I inch away from her, still trying to play the scared, uncertain victim.
"And don't follow me either." I say as I move around the pool table and head to the door.

"Escape?" came her reply, her countenance unchanging. "Understand you in this I do not. For walk into my home you did. Call the police I did not. But perhaps should have. Then when offer to play a game with you I do. Attack me you did."

She recounted what had happened and considered how she should have done differently. Yes, it was quite unusual to offer to play a game of pool with someone who had waltzed through the front door without so much as a word of invitation. That was the tricky part though, as humans required no such invitation to be able to enter the dwelling of another. She'd not really come to any conclusion either way as to whether or not she should have done something different or if she should try to stop him from leaving, after all, he hadn't actually done much wrong, besides break her pool cue that was.

It was in the few seconds she spent going over the situation that Deanna decided to take action, as she still lingered by the doorway. She had previously taken a shine to the male but as he now stood in their home and had brandished a weapon, crude as it may have been, at her sister, she decided it was time to make her presence known. So as the male edged away from Keara, on whom he seemed to be focused, she manifested in his path. Once visible to the naked eye, she appeared as nothing more than a humanoid figure that was comprised entirely of shadow. Being that her form was not a dense one, it was still possible to see through her and yet if someone cared to take in the shadowy mass for more than a few seconds, they would clearly be able to make out the form of a female from the 18th Century. She hovered where she was, the hem of her skirt hiding her feet, while also being a few inches from the ground.

The mention of police has me stopping in my tracks. She could have done that, but she hadn't and that was her fault. I doubt anyone would believe her story now, but I couldn't guarantee that. I had to get out of here and quick. I looked around for another escape route, only to come up empty handed. Door was the only way out and so, I head for it again without saying anything about the crazy woman's words or accusations.

Only, I didn't make it that far before someone, or something appeared in front of me and blocked my way out.
"Holy ****!" I took a few steps back because I hadn't expected anyone to block my way. But what had me talking wasn't that. It was the fact the person didn't seem like much of a person. Sometimes plans didn't work out and people had to improvise. But how the hell does someone improvise seeing something like this?

The woman wasn't dressed like any normal person would be. She could be just as crazy as the woman I was playing pool with. I was in an asylum of sorts. But that wasn't it. The fact the woman appeared to be a silhouette of something (as best as I could explain it), had me swearing as my mind went blank. I didn't know what to do. I put my hand out, thinking it was some sort of trick of my mind. Something Keara had done to alter my environment, but my hand didn't connect to anything solid as it punched through the shadowy figure.

I turned left, then right and finally realized that if I could punch through the woman, I could walk through the woman. "Forget about everything." I said before taking off and not looking back. I had made a mistake and I wasn't going to make another one by sticking around.

Keara was surprised to see Deanna make herself known in front of the male. For some reason she had felt the need to be seen and while Keara couldn't know her reasoning without talking to her, she assumed that was in some misguided attempt to resolve the issue that almost turned violent. The male's reaction to her was perfectly understandable as most humans seemed oblivious to anything from the supernatural realm, despite their obvious fascination with it. She'd seen countless television shows and youtube clips that revolved around the paranormal and all things unexplained. She watched intrigued by him, as he waved his hand through the 'apparition.' It occurred to her in that moment that the male was quite brave, as she couldn't see many people doing what he did. When he made a run for it, she didn't follow. She shook her head at Deanna and went to inspect the pool cue.

"Well...Seems it does that the cat out of the bag is regarding the existence of spirits. Still...at least he no proof has of what I am," she nodded to herself, discarded the broken cue on the table and made her way to the bedroom. Straightening her nighty she climbed in to bed early to reflect on the day before the sun rose and oblivion took her. "Remember I must better security to install. Perhaps a guard of the human variety enthralled and employed must be," she told Deanna who had come to rest by her side. "Remind me if forget I do." Keara closed her eyes and allowed the events of the day and her two strange encounters to run through her mind as she mused over how different they had been.
