I just got into town today. I caught a ride with a trucker I met in New York on his way north and he was nice enough to give me a ride to Canada. Not sure what I am going to do here but it seems like a nice place to blend in. Harper Rock is the name of the place. Henry, the name of the trucker, said that he never heard of the place before and was willing to take me farther but I declined the offer. He was a nice old man, gave me his cell phone number and fifty dollars so that I would not go hungry for a few days. He said call him and if he was ever this way again and heading back to the States he would take me with him. Of course I thanked him. The sisters of Saint Mary’s orphanage did teach me manners. They also taught me how to take a yard stick to the back too but that’s a story for another time.
I guess I will have to look around a bit and get more of a feel for this place. I can always play cards to win some more cash. The sisters said that luck always seems to follow me around. That’s why they named me Lucky. When they found me on the steps of the orphanage it was a freezing night. No infant could survive the cold but it was by luck that one of the sisters had to go out that night to take care of some matters for the orphanage. That was when she saw me bundled up and turning blue. So from then on they said the only name that would fit me was Lucky.
I don’t know how lucky I am beings that I had to leave the orphanage a couple of years ago because I was too old to stay and no one had shown interest in adopting me. So when I turned eight-teen the nuns gave what little money they could give me, said a prayer and out I went into the world.
I have to admit I have been having a lot of fun hitch hiking and exploring new places. I have met some interesting people. Some good, some bad, but with each one I learned something. Like I meet a guy name Pockets in DC. He was a year or two older than me and was a street kid. I hung out with him for a few months and during that time he taught me how to pick pocket people and play cards. Pockets said I was a natural at playing cards. I kinda miss Pockets but he was arrested for breaking and entering some place. So I ended up leaving for the next town.
My travels took me to Florida where I met an old black man named Bones. I asked him once why they called him Bones and he said that it was because he was a grave digger back in the day. Bones was a nice old man, he use to tease me that I was his lucky charm. Whenever I stood next to him when he played dominos with the other old men he would always win. If he played for money he would always give me a cut. But my time with Bones was short; he soon died of old age. A few days after his death I found myself hitch hiking back up north.
That was when I ended up in New York and met Henry at the truck stop. I was eating a grilled cheese with tomato soup and he struck up a conversation with me. Said I looked a little young to be alone at a truck stop. At first I thought he was a creepy old man but after talking to him for a bit it turned out he was a really nice guy. He was from Ohio and was on a truck run to Canada. Since I never been to Canada I asked if he would mind if I rode along with him. He was happy to have someone to talk to and I was glad I found someone nice to catch a ride with.
So here I am journal. Everything I own in my backpack and some money in my pocket. Maybe I will make this place my home. Hard to say right now, but first things first I need to find a hotel and get a room for the night. I am tired and really could use a few hours’ sleep. Tomorrow I will explore some more and see what this place is about.

Now that I have been here for a while, I have been finding my way around nicely. Been picking pockets to pay for my meals and pay for a room to sleep in. I think I may look for an apartment soon. Would be nice to actually put some roots down.
I haven't made any friends. I mean the people are nice and all but no one is really outgoing. Actually they are all kinda strange. Speaking of strange I found the strangest things. I think they are called.. Zombies. But zombies can't be real. Next someone is gonna tell me that vampires are real. Anyway I have been shooting them just for fun. The nuns would cringe if they saw me doing this but I don't see anything wrong with shooting these things. Whatever they are.
Speaking of vampires. Been having strange dreams of vampires lately. Bitting me and stuff. Honestly I need to stop watching tv and reading silly books. But what is really strange is... well I wake up sometimes in places that I didn't fall asleep in. Maybe I am sleep walking, interesting since I never slept walk before. I don't know must be just some craziness in my mind. That and I am a bit lonely and could use a friend.
Too much going on in my mind right now.. maybe I have ADD. Oh thats a funny thought. I promise to write again when my mind is not so random.
