Velveteen - She chuckled softly and settled back in her seat as he started the truck. “We’ll see.” She stated, certain at one point he wouldn’t be able to resist. “Stop at the morgue on the way hope babe, I can grab what I need from there. Will plot out the maps and drop off points tonight, make a more....solid plan and be ready to go first thing tomorrow night. You know...I am thinking with my clearance, I could probably even wrangle a loaner for a couple of nights. Which means the cops won’t be hunting a stolen meat wagon. It would eliminate that complication at least. I will also need to go and lift some stuff from the hospital as well.”

Her head rolled back against the cushioned head rest and stared quietly out the windscreen at the road ahead. Se would also have to do some research, surely google would provide the information she needed. It would certainly be better if they didn’t have to kill anyone, though....missing people were less likely to be as problematic. They might just have to wing bit and deal with it as it comes.

Micah - He put the truck into drive and pulled away from the curb without so much as a backwards glance at the house. If he did he might just go back and smother that freaky ******** with a pillow. That was going to be one hell of a dinner party, so much so that he almost felt sorry for the guests. Almost but not quite. “If you can get your hands on one that you can borrow that would probably be for the best. A stolen ambulance wouldn’t take long to be discovered. This is already a shady deal.”

He parked the truck in front of the morgue and killed the engine. “The last thing we need is to be discovered.” Visions of a swat team pulling them over and finding buckets of kidneys and bodies sitting in tubs of ice replaced the one from just a few minutes prior and he shook his head. He really needed to do something about his overactive imagination.

Velveteen - She nodded thoughtfully. Yeah...she should be able to do that. Make a few calls, pull a few favours, pay the right people. All methods that generally worked well. She was also gonna need a lot of anesthetic. Her head continued to bobbed gently in the gentle illuminations of the dash lights when her thoughts took a whole other tangent as they usually did. “You know....I wonder what would happen if we gave him vampire kidneys. Not like we need em. I wonder what they even look like now.” Her hand went down and her fingers squeezed lightly into her lower abdomen.

Micah - He knew that she was already off making lists and thinking of places that she could get what she needed. That was just how she worked. Hadn’t taken him long to figure it out once he got to know her. He glanced over at the sound of her voice. One eyebrow raised as he considered what she was saying. “Well,” he began as he pulled the key from the ignition. “I’ll tell you what. If you can manage to pull this off without getting our asses caught and thrown in jail, or into the insane asylum, I’ll let you see what mine look like now.” A little bit of incentive never hurt anyone.

Velveteen - She grinned darkly. “You won’t get anything to numb the pain though. You know that right?” The sharp edges of her teeth dragged over her lower lip, still thinking, obviously. “What do you think he is gonna do with him. You think he wants them to try and save himself or do you really think he plans on feeding his dinner guests human organs? Like what? Kidney pie or something? Kidney wrapped in bacon with some sort of hollandaise sauce? Jesus. That’s just ******* sick.” She paused a moment and tilted her head, the look in her eye obvious in even this dark lighting.

“If that is what he is doing with them then I could probably cut our work in half and harvest a couple of the fresher ones from the morgue.” Her brow shot up. “Hell by the look of him he aint gonna last out the weekend so....we could get half dead and harvest just a couple of fresh ones for posterity’s sake. I mean...they are like near frozen at the morgue so ...completely edible I suppose.”

Micah - He chuckled softly. “Woman I didn’t get anything for the pain the last time I went under your scalpel and I don’t recall complaining about that one small bit. Don’t need it. Painkillers take away from the....fun.” Don’t go there. Focus on the task at hand and put that **** on the shelf for a more appropriate time. He shook his head as if to clear it and almost wished he hadn’t. Sometimes he really did worry about the things she came out with. “Woman my advice to you on that is to just not think about it. But, I hate to admit it but I think you’re right. What a sick ******* freak.”

He sat back in his seat and considered her words. Two sounded a hell of alot better than 13. Cutting corners wasn’t something that they ever did but in this situation he didn’t see the harm in it. Between the two of them they could easily manage to snatch two random strangers off of the street and remain undetected. “Normally I would say no. In this however, Im going to say let’s do it.” He glanced over at her. “Do you have to like...thaw them out and ****?”

Velveteen - She literally purred at the memory and smiled, that one smile that suggested her thoughts had taken yet another sudden turn, that was until his voice pulled her back just as quickly. Her gaze narrowed a little and she lifted her shoulders in a casual, half hearted shrug. “Well they aren’t frozen solid babe but I don’t know. Maybe he has a reason to be bitter....who knows? That would be an awesome sort of revenge though wouldn’t it? Kinda like a last big **** you. Though if it was me....I’d totally tell them after they all finished eating, or, leave it in a letter to be shared with the public when I died. But that’s just me.” She chuckled and shook her head. Whatever was going on with the old guy having these kidneys seemed to make him happy.

“But what if they are for him to...you know, try another transplant? Though even so, I couldn’t see him wanting thirteen for that. Do you?” She pursed her lips once more. “How about three fresh and the rest, whatever we can get? Just in case. Cause he....didn’t actually specify they had to be live did he?”

Micah - This was getting creepier by the minute. Never in a million years did he ever think he’d be sitting here talking about stealing kidneys with his wife like they were talking about the weather. “If they’re for some kind of experimental transplant then I would imagine you need them to be as fresh as possible. Because once they’re exposed to air for too long they become unusable.” At least he thought that was how it went. He never paid much attention to things like that because it just didn’t interest him. Now he kind of wished that he had. “4 fresh. The rest whatever we can get. Just in case.”

Velveteen - “Four we can do easily enough I think. I can go through the morgue tonight, see what’s on the menu.” She laughed. “Is almost like one of those restaurants where you have to pick your own lobster. Would you like slight chubby female or lean muscled male tonight, Sir?” She shook her head. It was just getting too ******* twisted now. She settled back and nodded once more. “Yeah...we will do this easy. We got bodies comin’ in all the time over there. You can be my assistant for the night.” She wrinkled her nose and grinned teasingly. “I love it when we get to work together.”

Micah - He didn’t even bother to hide his groan. Of course she’d find some way to make light of the situation. See what’s on the menu indeed. Only she would come out with something like that. And it only went downhill from there. “Woman would you just stop.” There was a bit of amusement to his tone so he really wasn’t as exasperated as he let on. Shooting her a grin he reached for the door handle. “Yeah, it’s not all that often we get to do **** like this. It’s going to prove to be interesting that’s for sure.”

Velveteen - A wicked grin danced across her pale lips. “Mhmm. It is.” She opened the door and slide out of the truck certain that he had no clue just how interesting. Velveteen was well aware how much her husband disliked the morgue. The smell, the dead bodies and what not nor did he have any clue right at this very moment how much of his help she was going to need. She took a moment to wonder if vampires could still faint, certain that if it were possible he may just do it tonight....several times over. The thought made her chuckle quietly before she urged herself forward, affording the man a playful glance before heading up the stairs that lead to the heavy, glass doors. It was usually quiet around this time of night. The lighting was dimmed and she expected there would be maybe two on staff and perhaps night security. A minor technicality at best.

Micah - He got out of the truck and slammed the door with a little more force than was actually necessary and pocketed the keys after hitting the button to lock the vehicle. He glared at the building in front of him distastefully. Why did he agree to come here? he hated this place. Not much freaked him out or made him uncomfortable but for some reason the morgue did. He liked to say it was the smell of death and decay but it was something much deeper than that that he just couldn’t put his finger on. And it showed when he refused to follow her. Instead he watched as she ascended the stairs and disappeared through the heavy glass doors. He knew he should follow her but it was as if his feet were frozen in place. “Woman the things I do for you,” he muttered to himself as he finally got his reluctant feet to obey. Slower than he normally moved he climbed the stairs and and entered the building.

Velveteen - Velveteen was already talking quietly over the desk to the young man in a white lab technicians coat. It seemed as if she was just getting a run down on the night. It had been quiet. Several corpses had arrived earlier in the night, two autopsies were scheduled for in the morning and reports were needed by the HRPD yesterday, blah blah blah. Her head bobbed as he spoke and she turned her gaze towards the front doors as they swung open. She couldn’t help the small flickering of a smile at his obvious discomfort but she felt pretty confident that he’d be able to push it aside, at least for tonight....wishful thinking? Perhaps.

The soft murmurings of conversation continued until the dark haired vampire gave a confident nod and rounded the desk. The younger man stood to give her his seat at the computer and wished her a goodnight before heading out for the night, knowing the place was now left in good hands. “Being the boss does have its perks.” She uttered quietly as her husband neared, her fingers already busy on the keyboard as she looked to see who had been checked in most recently.

Micah - He cringed as the heavy door shut behind him with a barely audible noise. The smell hit him full force in the face and what he really wanted to do was turn around and walk the **** right back out. But he couldn’t. Vel needed his help with this whole freaky job and he’d promised her that he’d help her. Trying to brush off his discomfort he crossed the room and leaned against the counter, peeking over the top of the monitor to see what she was working on. “Are you almost done?” Stupid question to ask he knew, but he wanted to get **** done and get the hell out of the building. As soon as possible.

Velveteen - “Do you see me holding nine kidneys babe?” She arched a brow and glanced up to catch a quick glimpse of his face, illuminated now by the soft glow of the monitor. “We haven’t even started yet.” Reaching for a pen she smirked a little and began to scribble down a few seemingly random numbers. They would mean little to anyone else but to her....they were cash. “We got ten possibles. I dunno. One of em has been here three days. Might be pushing it but...well ****. He didn’t say they had to come from a live body did he? Did he?” She stood and looked up at him curiously. She was pretty sure he didn’t but it didn’t hurt to question it one more time while she settled it with her conscience. “And look on the bright side. The deed don’t bleed. Much.” With that she flipped her head towards one of the corridors. “This way first.”

Micah - “Your sarcasm in duly noted.” He drawled and crossed his arms over his chest. Micah knew his wife would take advantage of the fact that he was so uncomfortable and take every opportunity she had to tease him about it. He wasn’t mad that she did and could see the humor in the situation because in a way it really was slightly amusing. He could kill without batting an eye but he balked at spending any length of time in the morgue, a place that she owned and came to quite frequently. “It’s not the blood woman. We’ve been over this.” He scowled and pushed off the counter. “Let’s just...go pick these damn bodies. Why couldn’t we have found the live ones first?”

Velveteen - She chuckled softly and slipped her hand in his to give it a quick squeeze. Unlike most she was quite at home with the dead. The smell never worried her and once upon a time, a time that almost seemed like a lifetime ago already but was really only a matter of years, she would have a conversation with the person’s spirit whilst performing their autopsy. It was all very normal to her even if it would give most nightmares. A hint of guilt nagged at her and tried to be a little more sympathetic to his plight. “Well it was easier to see what we could get from here first. The live ones I don’t expect are going to be so simple.” A frown flickered over her features though passed quickly. She would worry about that then. Take care of this first.
She pushed through the thick plastic overlapping doors and stopped. She gave the smaller room a cursory once over before moving further in and across to the large wall of drawers on the other side. A soft hum emanated from her lips as she began seeking out the numbers that had been jotted down only minutes before, one by one opening each draw as she found them. In total five drawers were pulled open, each containing a body hidden beneath a layer of thick plastic.

Micah - Of course it wasn’t going to be easy. None of this was easy. But dealing with dead bodies was easier than having to deal with the living. More care would be required so that the humans didn’t suffer any more than they had to. He still didn’t know how she planned to even capture the live ones. “Maybe you should call that dude and ask him if he’ll accept what you have on hand. Can people live with just one single kidney? And how the hell are you going to keep from getting caught?” He was rambling and he knew it. Blame it on the morgue - that’s what he told himself. On silent feet he moved across the floor and joined her, peeling back the plastic to peer down at the random face that was underneath. When he realized what he was doing he dropped the plastic as if it had burned him and took a hasty step back.

Velveteen - She nodded as she began to inspect the bodies and their corresponding paperwork. “Yeah they can. One good function kidney is all that is needed, so the other is already kinda....like a spare. That is if they haven’;t already given one away” her head snapped around at the sound behind her and she couldn’t help but smirk. “They won’t bite babe. They are bit too dead for that. Over in that drawer and the cupboard beneath.” She pinpointed the position with her eyes. “Rubber gloves...the heavy duty black ones. A couple of coats and....” She eyed him thoughtfully. “Maybe a mask. The smell is probably gonna get worse. Might help a bit.” She chuckled against and turned back to the body before her. “So Mrs Gains, do you have a kidney for us tonight?”

Micah - “Are you seriously asking this dead woman a question?” Then he realized that she had mentioned something about the smell and just kind of stared at her disbelief written all over his face. “How in the actual **** can it get any worse that this?” Truth be told, it really wasn’t all that bad. It wasn’t mostly in his mind and he was pretty sure he was making a mountain out of a molehill. He went to do as she’d instructed however, retrieving the items that she had listed. As soon as that mask was in his hands however, it was over his face and he was relieved to discover that it did help with the smell if only just a bit.

Velveteen - “They used to answer back once.” She shaid somewhat distractedly as she set the clipboard aside and started hauling Mrs Gains out by the shoulders. “Quick, come help me babe, this woman is a dead weight.” Velveteen appeared to struggle a little despite being more than capable of lifting two Mrs Gains’ on her own. “Quick!”

Micah - He sighed and shook his head as he moved to her side and easily pushed the body over, taking the weight of it off of her hands. “You lightweight,” he couldn’t help but tease her as the woman hit the surface with a dull thud. “Now I see why you keep me around. To do all of the hard work.”

Velveteen - “Uh oh. You’re onto me.” Taking one of the crisply folded lab coats she slipped it on and eyed him thoughtfully for a moment. “So uhhh....is this a completely inappropriate time to suggest a game of doctors and nurses?” She waggled her brows suggestively and grinned. “I’ll let you be the doctor.” She reached out and dragged a stainless steel cart closer. Most of the necessary tools should be there ready and waiting. “What ya say?” She asked, producing a scalpel and twisting it this way and that so that the light caught it just so.

Micah - “Yeah completely inappropriate time babe. Don’t think your subjects would approve.” Did it matter? No. Not like they could protest. Jesus he needed to stop that train of thought before it got him in trouble. They didn’t have time for that kind of stuff right now. Deadlines and all. “What do I say? I say let’s get a move on woman I ain’t getting any younger.”

Velveteen - “You ain’t getting any older either...technically. But okay...okay.” He was right. They really didn’t have the time for games so she pulled on her gloves and got down to business. Unveiling contestant number one she was pleased to see no scars or signs that a kidney had been removed previously so that was good. If the rest of the night was as good to them they would be out of here in no time. As the blade sunk into the woman’s cold and lifeless flesh, Velveteen almost felt at home, she really should come by more often.

Micah - It was on the tip of his tongue to say something about her being older than he but for once he didn’t. The usual jokes just didn’t have a place here with what they were doing. He’d make sure to tease her about it later though. As the blade cut through the corpse he could only watch in almost fascinated horror. Is this what they had resorted to? Stealing kidneys from dead people? Why yes, yes they had. Whatever worked right? “Do you need me to do anything?”

Velveteen - She nodded as she finished making the incision and set the scalpel aside. This was going to be way different on a living person and in all honestly, that part of it made her more nervous than a cat in a dog kennel but it was a little late for that now. “Stick your hand in here and hold that back for me, please, it’s a bit of a tight fight. I didn’t want to make a too big a cut. Could lead to questions I don’t want to answer.” Her eyes never left her work as she spoke and her own hand was already disappearing inside the the woman’s abdomen.

Micah - She wanted him to do what? She had to be kidding. But one look at her face that was completely focused on the task at hand told him that no she was being completely serious. With a sigh he pulled on a pair of gloves that were a rather tight fit and carefully wedged his hand into the small opening that she had made. As gently as possible he pulled the skin back giving her what he hoped was enough room to work.

Velveteen - She was in her comfort zone and everything seemed to be going to plan. Her fingers easily found the organ she was looking forward and closed around it. A smile lit up her face. “Got it! Oh ****. Lost it.” She hadn’t but she thought it might lighten the mood a little when all of a sudden her brow furrowed slightly. “God I’m an idiot. These people are dead. What are they gonna need a kidney for? Two from one certainly makes more sense right?”

Micah - Why did they not think of that sooner? That would save them so much time and maybe just maybe they wouldn’t have to go plucking humans off the streets. While he wasn’t all that bothered by it, he’d rather they didn’t have to do anything that might call unwanted attention towards them. “Take them both. She ain’t gonna have any need for them any longer.”

Velveteen - The woman grinned and nodded, taking no time at all to retrieve the two organs. A simple snip and tuck, and some of her finest stitching and the job was done. “Be easier to cover up that way too. I will just have to perform these autopsies and sign off on the others. She looked over her shoulder at the other drawers open and waiting. “Yeaaaah. We will be done here in no time, babe. Might even get time for that game of doctors and nurses after all.”

Micah - “You have got such a one track mind woman.” He took a step back and peeled off the gloves. Another pair would be needed but he wasn’t going to put them on until he absolutely had to. “Do you think we could just...get away with using all dead ones? I know we said a couple of live ones but unless there’s a random homeless hobo out there somewhere thats on his last legs I’d rather not do anything that might get us caught.”

Velveteen - “I blame you, cause it is your fault.” She grinned crookedly and canted her head to the side as she gave his question some thought. “Well honestly, it would depend on what he what exactly, he wants them for. If he is planning on serving them for dinner then it won’t matter. If he is gonna try for another of the record operations then yeah....no. It would have to be....alive.” Her silver gaze settled on his face in a moment of silence. “I;d ring and ask but I’m a little scared of what he might say. I mean....I dunno if I wanna know what he is doing with them.”

Micah - “You always blame me. It’s not my fault you can’t keep your mind out of the gutter when I’m around.” He raised an eyebrow and adjusted the mask covering his nose and his mouth. He really couldn’t wait to get the **** out of this place. “No don’t call him. We can just pluck a couple of gangsters off of the street. No one is going to miss them and they get killed all of the time. That’s our best option when it comes to the live ones I think.”

Velveteen - “Yeah well...it’s usually always your fault. See how that works?” A victorious smirk adorned her lips as she snapped on a new set of gloves, ready for the next. “Gangsters! Yes. Perfect. It will be way less stressful if I don’t have to worry about keeping them alive. Can you do me a favour though? Please?”

Micah - He opened his mouth to argue with her then closed it. It wouldn’t do any good and she’d just end up winning like she always did. He reached for another pair of gloves, these ones sliding on much easier. Grabbing from the right box always worked and it was his own fault for not checking the size the first time around. “I can try. What do you need me to do?”

Velveteen - Her expression was dead set serious as she spoke. “The next time I agree to anything like this, slap me upside the head. Hard. Though not hard enough for me to like it.” Her usual grin slid right into place then as she set about putting Mrs Gains back in her draw and fetching the next. A couple more hours and they should be out of here. Two more nights and this would be over.

Micah - The grin he gave her was wicked. There was so much he wanted to say in response to her request but he figured it was best left for another time. When they didn’t have a job to do that they had only a short window to work with. “Deal. Now let’s get this **** done.”

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Micah - The next night had Micah wandering through various abandoned buildings. This was a task that he preferred. At least he was outside and not stuck in that freaky morgue that his wife preferred. The entire time she was doing what she needed to do he was itching to flee but he managed to stick it out. Once she had gotten what she needed from the selected corpses he’d tossed his mask and gloves and left without helping her clean anything up. She might have been a little pissed about that but he figured she’d get over it in time.

A search of the school wasn’t successful so he headed over past the bank to look in the abandoned buildings. His luck was better there - as soon as he walked in he could hear a couple of gangster conversing in low tones trying not to draw any attention to themselves. Pulling out his phone he sent her a text. “I’ve got 2. How are we gonna do this?”

Velveteen - She eyed her phone and shook her head a little. They had done good the night before but she was a little upset at him for clearing out on her. She could have used his help, though she understood his dislike of the morgue and let it go without making an issue. Though paybacks were a *****. She began to send a text but stopped in favour of just calling. It would be faster. The phone was pressed to ear as she waited for him to answer.

Micah - The ringtone was loud. So loud that it drew the attention of the two gangsters in the opposite room. He cursed and looked for a place to hide but there was nowhere to go. The element of surprise was gone, his fault for not silencing the phone but it still irritated him. There was no time to try and knock these ones out so as they turned the corner he fired off two shots in rapid succession killing them both instantly. Once the gun was put away he answered the phone. “You just cost me those gangsters woman. Are you happy? Now I have to look for more!”

Velveteen - Her brow shot up, surprised by the tone in his voice and she pulled the phone away from ear momentarily. “Is there a short supply of gangsters tonight babe? Soooorrry….I didn’t realise you were sitting right next to them and who doesn’t silence their phone on a stakeout?!” Her sarcasm probably wasn’t going to earn her any points but it was said with a certain amount of amusement. “I know you will find more, babe.”

Micah - He scowled and stalked out of the building. “I’m sure there isn’t a short supply but I had 2. TWO woman. That was all we needed wasn’t it?” Micah had lost track of how many she had gotten the previous night. “I wasn’t expecting you to call.” He slipped into the next building. “Your sarcasm isn’t wanted or needed right now. So again, how do you want this done? And where the hell am I taking them?”

Velveteen - She couldn’t help but chuckle, though did her best to stifle it so as to not further exacerbate his already bad mood, but she bet that he didn’t realise how adorable he was when he got growly sometimes. “I said I was sorry. And yes...two. One from each...if we are keeping them alive that is. What do you think would draw more heat? Living victims of kidney theft or two more dead gangsters?”

Micah - “You’re impossible,” he grumbled without any heat in his tone. She was impossible to stay angry with and this was no exception. “And you still didn’t answer my question. How do you want to do this, and where am I taking their sorry asses?”

Velveteen - The woman snickered softly into the phone once more. “Well you didn’t answer mine either, lover. Dead or alive. Then I can decide where and how?”

Micah - “Woman this isn’t my area of expertise. Don’t they need to be alive? You’re the doctor type person in this here relationship. I just kill things.” He moved through the building slowly, searching all the shadowed corners but came up with nothing. Once he discovered that the building was clear he headed back outside. “So you tell me which you prefer.”

Velveteen - “I mean afterwards. Do we care if they survive? Once the organs are removed they will have to be delivered asap but their viability isn’t dependant on the donor still breathing afterwards.” She paused for a moment, humming softly as she raced through the various scenarios. “At the morgue. Well downstairs in the Realm. Less likely to be scene and can get rid of the evidence more conveniently. Missing people would be more easily written off than two sporting matching wounds and missing internal organs. Though...that could be amusing to watch on the news.” The idea of that amused her a little too much. “On second thoughts….we shall keep them alive for the lulz. I will get what we need and and set up downstairs.”

Micah - “You have to be ******* kidding me.” The morgue. Why? The universe hated him. Either that or she was getting a kick out of him being so uncomfortable. His rational side tried to reason with him by saying that it was the only place that was equipped to deal with the situation but he didn’t much care. “Fine. I’ll deliver -” He cut himself off as he caught sight of a gangster up ahead. The human wasn’t paying attention and had a pair of earbuds stuck in his ears. “Hold on a second woman.” Micah drew his gun, crept up behind the oblivious human and brought the handle of the gun down hard on the male’s head and smiled in satisfaction as the gangster went down like a house of cards. Fumbling with the phone he brought it back up to his ear. “One down. I’ll throw him in the truck and look for another.”

Velveteen - “Jesus. Slow down. I gotta get set up yet.” She was already up and on her feet, making a mental list. She had to go by the hospital and then get over to the morgue and haul everything downstairs. “Gag and tie them. That way if they wake up in the meantime it won’t b-......and blindfold. You got duct tape in the truck?” The last question more of a statement. Everyone had duct tape somewhere….didn’t they?

Micah - “What kind of question is that? Everyone has duct tape.” The unconscious gangster was tossed haphazardly into the bed of the truck and Micah made quick work of securing his hands and feet with the tape. Another piece was torn off and placed over the gangster’s mouth. “Wait - why aren’t you ready? You’re losing your touch woman.”

Velveteen - Her eyes widened and she gasped as if his comment hurt, though it was all fake. “I didn’t even know you were out hunting yet! But….I dunno...give me an….” She did a quick mental calculation. “Hour. I should be right by then and if not then you will just have to help me!” She was already on the move and the first stop would have to be the hospital for all those things that aren’t typically on hand at the morgue. The dead didn’t need anesthetic though she couldn’t say in all honesty that she could even perform these operations and have them survive anyway. She shrugged to herself deciding to worry about that later. “See you there?”

Micah - “An hour?? Wife…” he sighed. “Women. It takes you so fuckin long to do anything.” He slammed the tailgate closed and tossed the roll of tape onto the seat before shutting the door and locking the truck back up. “Fine. But if you aren’t there in exactly an hour I’m going to hunt you down and you’ll probably enjoy the consequences.”

Velveteen - “Wait. Do you want me there or not? Because you are suddenly making not showing up extremely tempting.” She was teasing and he would have well known that by the tone of her voice. The idea of throwing off the whole thing at this point and having playtime with her husband was very tempting but….two more kidneys. They’s be done and she would maintain the business’ reputation. “An hour. I promise. Just kept our guests….entertained. I love you.” The smirk on her lips heard on her words.

Micah - He chuckled. “Later woman. Let’s just get this done and over with. The sooner we’re finished with the creepy rich guy the sooner we can get paid and pretend this **** never happened.” He reloaded his gun and headed for the next building. “An hour. No more no less. Trust me I shall be the perfect...host, so to speak.” He grinned and added a dagger to his boot. “Love you too babe. See you soon.” He ended the call and continued his search.

Velveteen - She checked the time before tucking her phone in the waistband of her jeans. It was late and the amount of staff on duty at the moment would be minimal, especially at Westwall. It was smaller and generally less populated so she figured that would be the place to start. The amount of shadows that hung in the lowers corners of the dimply lit corridors made her progress much easier as she called them to her and made her way to surgery. Emergency was usually far too busy for lifting anything and few surgeries were scheduled for this time of night allowing her to go about her business with few hindrances, loading everything she would need and possibly more that she wouldn’t into a bag she had brought just for this purpose. She could only hope that no one was hanging out in the back supplies room at the morgue while she smuggled whatever else she needed downstairs.

Micah - The second gangster took a little longer to find and Micah had managed to stumble upon him doing a bit of business right out in the open. Good thing too as he’d just about given up. The killer waited for the human to finish the deal he was in the process of making and once the coast was clear, Micah slipped up behind him and knocked him out just as easily as he had the first one. Once the gangster was bound and gagged and in the bed of the truck he checked the time and saw that the hour was just about up.

The drive to the morgue was short and the hour was just passing as he drug both bodies through the morgue and downstairs to the Realm. He tossed them into the cage and went back outside to secure the truck before making his way back downstairs.

Velveteen - Velveteen was not an uncommon sight at the morgue so when she passed through the heavy, double glass doors, barely a passing glance was given by the night watchman or the young woman at the desk though she looked up and gave her full attention when the dark haired vampire approached and began to speak. “I’m going to do some stock-take tonight. Check supplies and such. So I’ll be out back if needed but only if needed. If it isn’t important then don’t disturb me please.” She barely waited for a reply before moving toward the back of the building. Sheets, gloves, gowns, various instruments and the bag from the hospital was tossed onto a gurney and wheeled it into the hidden elevator.

Micah - He was kneeling by the gangsters when he heard her footsteps. They were still unconscious and he couldn’t decide if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Either way they wouldn’t be seeing another night once his wife was finished with them. “You’re lucky,” he said without turning around. “You’re only a couple minutes late, but I was too so I shall forgive you this time.”

Velveteen - She stopped and stepped around the gurney to go into a low sweeping bow. “Please forgive my tardiness, M’lord but you see...I was surely attacked by dragons on my way here. I barely managed to escape with me life!” She cast him a sideways glance and chuckled before beginning preparations. “Your graciousness is...appreciated.” Her nose wrinkled as she chuckled and she shook her head in playful exasperation.

Micah - He snorted and turned to face her. “You are such a fuckin smart ***.” He brushed the dirt from his jeans and pointed at the humans laying in the middle of the blood stained floor. “I hope these are acceptable cause I ain’t gonna go look for any others. They’re alive cause I didn’t want to draw any attention to myself.”

Velveteen - “Yeah...but you love me. I know ya do.” She grinned and laid out a few things on the bar before making her way closer to the Cage for a look. She gave a noncommittal shrug. “As long as they have a couple of healthy kidneys then we are all good. Though I dunno if i can keep them alive babe. I think I may have been a bit adventurous on even thinking that.” She frowned and inspected the pair before shaking her head. “Though we would be doing the city a favour. Two less scumbags on the street.”

Micah - He shrugged his shoulders. What did he care if they lived or died? If he was given the choice he would of course choose to kill them. But that could be because his trigger finger was itchy - it had been a long time since he’d been able to put it to proper used by killing someone. “What do you need me to do?”

Velveteen - She busied herself with preparations and glanced over her shoulder briefly when he spoke. “Well….I think I’m ready.So...bring one over. Lay him up on the bar here please, babe.” Doubt began to eat at her and suddenly any good intentions she had seemed to be an unreachable goal. It all sounded good in theory but even she knew with her extensive knowledge of the body that there is a big difference between procedures when it come to the dead and the living and a surgeon she was not. So instead she resigned herself to the fact that this was not going to end well for their two….donors.

Micah - His fingers curled around the upper arm of one of the gangsters and he began to pull him across the floor. He probably should have paid attention because the unconscious form suffered a bit of abuse on the short journey and by the time Micah tossed it onto the bar, one of the arms was crooked and the human was bleeding from a head wound. “Well at least it’s in one piece.”

Velveteen - Velveteen eyed the unconscious male and shook her head before flashing her husband a crooked smirk. “One piece is...good. Though I imagine that is rather painful.” She slapped the gangsters face a few times, needing him awake now for the last few moments of his life that he would remember. She made busy with prepping the anesthetic and waited for him to come around. Of course the first thing he bagan to do once reaching full consciousness was struggle, his cries of protest muffled behind the duct tape that still held fast. The syringe was placed in her left hand as the fingers of her right curled about his jaw and she leaned in closer to look into the man’s eyes.

She was almost disappointed to not find the level of fear that one would expect to see considering the circumstances but more anger and defiance and then beyond that they seemed dead. These people bred hatred and crime and in a bid to undermine her own feelings of guilt she lingered on those thoughts. She of course had had some darker moments though over all, taking a human life was not a common theme for her. She understood the fragility of their mortality. It was something she had grown up with and something the spirits never let her forget. But there were also those who squandered that gift. This human before her was one of the latter. The dark haired vampire almost smiled as the needle disappeared into the human’s arm.

Micah - “You should have told me that you needed them to be awake.” He frowned as he watched her attempt to wake the human. “I hit them pretty hard.” Which for him was pretty bad, and he’d only used half of his strength. Full would have probably killed them and she’d said she needed them to be alive. A scowl crossed his face at the sound of the feeble protest coming from the man on the bar. “I should have shoved a sock or something in his mouth. Can we like hurry this along? Whiney fuckers make me cranky.”

Velveteen - She chuckled softly and let the anesthetic take effect before beginning to remove the tape. “Can you get his hands there babe? And you should just be thankful we are down here. Would have been easier up there.” Her sterling orbs rolled upward to indicate the ceiling and the morgue.”So what is gonna happen is this. I’m gonna cut him open. Remove the kidneys and close him up. He will likely bleed internally because quite frankly...I have no idea how to do this. He should be dead before the anesthetic wears off. Which means….probably only needed the one. Well as long as this guy has both.” With that she took up the scissors to removed the male’s shirt and looked for any tell tale scars. “Which does seem to be the case so far.

Micah - He nodded and began to remove the tape that he had secured the humans hands with. “If it was easier to do it up there then why did you bring everything down here?” He had wondered that when she told him to bring the bodies down below. “If you were worried about me being uncomfortable I would have dealt with it.” He grew quiet and listened to her explain what was going to happen and what she was going to be doing. “Alright. But if he has both then what's the point of keeping that one over there?” He gestured to the other gangster still laying unconscious in the cage.

Velveteen - “Because you are not skipping out on me again. I am going to need you to help me clean this up!” She paused considered his question as lines etched in her brow. “Well there is none. I don’t know. I have never done this before...I’m winging it! And not very well at that. I don’t know. He is still out to it. Untie him and go dump him somewhere I guess? No sense in killing him if we don’t have to. Take his wallet and **** though, make it look a robbery.”

Micah - And there it was. He had been waiting for her to bring up how he’d got the hell out of there the second his assistance was no longer required. A sarcastic retort started to form but he bit it back in the nick of time. “You’re lucky he didn’t see me. If he had then I would have had to kill him.” What he didn’t tell her was that he was going to kill the human anyways. One less gangster on the streets. No one would miss him.

Velveteen - A sly grin danced across her lips as he seemed to have completely ignored her remark about him leaving her with it, but she had made her point. He wasn’t getting away with it a second time. “So what is the time anyway? I think...we should be able to make the delivery tonight, get our paycheck and be done wi-....” Her sentence was cut short as the finely sharpened scalpel parted the ‘patient’’ flesh and the scent of his blood assaulted her senses. It wasn’t until that moment that she’d realised she hadn’t fed and all of a sudden she was thirsty as all ****. “Maybe we should….keep him. For a bit longer. Maybe.” The tip of her tongue snaked over her lips and she shook her head a little as refocused her attentions and the matter at hand.

Micah - He stared in fascination as the blood that instantly rose to the surface from the cut she made in the human’s flesh. He’d never seen anything quite like it before, and it was almost like he was watching one of those shows that his mother used to watch on the television when he was a kid. Completely different seeing it up close and personal though. The scent of fresh blood wasn’t bothering as he’d managed to feed while he was out hunting but he caught the look on her face and realized that she hadn’t. “You can feed when you’re done. If he’s not dead when you’re finished we’ll just shoot him and be done with it. Really who is gonna miss him?”

Velveteen - “Other gangsters maybe? You are right. No one that matters.” She nodded and continued to work though the amount of blood was making her task a little difficult. It was much harder to see and way slipperier and she swore a few times under breath as she reached through the wound. She all intentions of making it nice and clean but her impatience and general ineptness in the situation was only serving to frustrate her. Her fingers searched for the organ and once located, curled about it tightly and just simply yanked it out. She held it out to show her husband before looking at rather oddly. “Ermmm….that’s not it. **** it. Didn’t go back far enough.” With that the spleen was dropped and splatted wetly against the stone floor as her hand disappeared inside the human’s abdomen once more.

Micah - It was like watching a train wreck. You know you really should look away but you can’t. Watching her was morbidly fascinating and he had absolutely no idea what she managed to extract but apparently it was the wrong thing. Yeah, she was no surgeon that much was certain. “Wouldn’t it have been easier to go in through the back?” Wasn’t there where the kidneys were located? That’s what he always thought but what he knew about internal organs could fit inside of a thimble.

Velveteen - She became motionless and just looked at him for a moment. It kinda made sense but at the same time not. She didn’t answer but just shook her head before returning to the task at hand. Logically it made perfect sense but for some unexplainable reason it just didn’t seem right in her head. Though for all she knew right now that could very well be how it was done. It was times like these that velveteen realised just how heavily she had relied on her abilities to communicate with the dead throughout her life. perhaps if she had paid more attention in class and at lectures she would know this ****. A small sound of victory escape her as she extracted the right thing this time and held it up. “Grab the esky babe, please?”

Micah - He waited for her to say somethin, maybe answer his question. And when she didn’t he started to wonder if she really even knew herself. Once he realized that he was glad that he had made the suggestion of using the gangsters. A glance over to the bar had him wincing and almost feeling sorry for the poor sucker who was victim to her blade. Almost. Better a piece of trash from the street than someone who had a family that might miss them. The sound of her voice pulled him out of his thoughts. “Grab the what?”

Velveteen - “The es-...” They had been through this once before and she suddenly remembered that what they were called at home is not what they were called here. “That….” She nudged her hands towards the cooler. “Blue box with a handle thing that holds ice. Esky!” A mischievous grin danced across her mouth.
